Overboard

It was a good movie about growth and although he was being a rude ass which is somewhat understandable, albeit he was a douche here and there, this was good because u can see the growth and development

This is a very morally grey situation but found a lot of enjoyment somehow

Overboard is absolutely one of those childhood favorites that lives in your brain forever, no matter how many giant red flags you notice as an adult. Watching it again with my 20-year-old really drove home the fact that yes, the storyline is slightly, and by slightly, I mean very, problematic. And yet... I do not care. This movie has somehow floated above accountability on a raft made entirely of charm, chaos, and pure 1980s nonsense.

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are everything. Absolutely everything. Their chemistry is so effortlessly good that they somehow make this wildly questionable setup feel like a rom com fever dream you’re willing to just go with. Goldie is hilarious, glamorous, and perfectly over-the-top, and Kurt Russell has that rough edged, lovable scoundrel energy that the ’80s produced in bulk and then apparently retired.

And honestly, this movie is so deeply quotable it’s ridiculous. “I just... ate a bug!” is one of those lines that never leaves you. It just lodges itself in your soul and pops up forever, exactly the way the best ’80s movie quotes do.

Overboard is peak ’80s in every possible way: big personalities, bigger hair, questionable morals, chaotic romance, and a complete refusal to be normal for even one second. Does it age perfectly? Absolutely not. Is it still wildly funny, weirdly comforting, and impossible for me not to love? Completely. Sometimes a movie doesn’t need to be defensible. Sometimes it just needs Goldie, Kurt, and enough nostalgic insanity to carry you all the way back.

I know that this is to be a funny gag movie but it honestly was sad at times, this woman now matter how bitchy she was, lost her memories and then had to adapt to this new life with children and a husband that weren’t hers, love them and take care of them. Otherwise cute 6/10 ⚓️
