I loved the thematic ambition of this film and its overall concept. The script unfortunately feels unnatural and the flashbacks disorienting. Some moving ideas despite its flaws.

i tend to expect a lot more than such one-note films from legendary genius paul schrader, but this is still an occasionally intelligent and engaging watch with great female performances. the writing and narrative could be better, but are serviceable given the topic
