TW: SA, awkward sensuality

So fucked up, really convinced my whole gf’s family to see this on Christmas Day🤦🏻‍♂️
So morbid, uncomfortable and disgustingly emphatic on the creepy parts

Unwatchable I was scummed by overhyped promotional material, ruined Christmas and traumatized 🥸😖

Really dk why the internet’s heralding this as a horny vampire dark romance. Like what? This movie serves as an allegory for sexual abuse, pedophilia, and the shame that follows victims and lingers. I came into it blind so I was expecting the former just to be left very disturbed (which obv was the point). But seeing the response to this movie is just…. You guys scare me 😅

That was the worst movie I’ve watched in my life. Kept falling asleep in theaters and waking up to random moaning from lily rose Depps big ass forehead. Why did they put a mustache on him? You could barely see him to begin with. They make movies entirely too dark at this point.

Nosferatu

an interesting take on the character, and has flavours of Dracula as well.

We’re incredibly lucky that films like this are still being made! Horror films nowadays are plagued by cheap scares & repetitive tropes, but Robert Eggers says “not today”, crafting this retelling in all its gothic/horror grandeur with his finesse in filmmaking. It makes me so happy something like this was able to turn the level of profit it did!

Bill Skarsgård does some insane work, only matched by Lily-Rose Depp alongside her body horror. The performances they’re able to pull off are nothing short of extraordinary and are prime evidence that The Academy has a bias against nominating horror - although Amy Madigan’s nominations this year for Weapons give me hope for a change!

I desperately need to see The Witch and The Lighthouse…

Loved the cinematography! The light, camera movement and the interpretation of the typical vampire/Dracula look was amazing and worked so well for the film.
