I’ll be honest, I was in between meh and liked.

I had enormous expectations but I think this film wasn’t just made for me, I think it’s made for a different type of public.

Cinematography was nice, on point, a lot of split shots.

I feel like pacing was an issue for me, very slow moments, followed by very quick spontaneous moments.

Color was nice and pleasant.

But to be honest, the trailer excited me so much, and I thought it would have that snappy feel that it showed, and it didn’t, unfortunately for me, it didn’t satisfy.

That’s just me though.

Basically tells you the economy sucks, yet you find yourself with a job and are content being apart of the system.

Incredible stunning, a mastery of storytelling!

this movie deserved more recognition, i love tragicomedy’s and this was so beautifully done, lee byung hun u deserved that nomination!!!

it was good!

Park has done it again, not as good as parasite cuz only 1 main character, but unreal story (adapted), acting, score, visuals. Audibly laughed at times, was on the edge of my seat, shaking my head. He knows how to portray human experience and extremes people will go. So good.

Did the film a disservice by watching it on the plane so that may have skewed my perception of the film. Thought it was a bit slow and story didn’t feel as engaging as I thought it would. The visuals and acting is really good.

This was great. I love how the director is not afraid to go there and the ending felt earned and meaningful. It’s a social commentary on how the workplace chews you up and spits you out—and how much of our identity and materialistic aspirations become tied up in that. Watch it. It’s good.

A desperate job seeker decides the fastest way to employment is murdering his competition. No Other Choice is a Korean dark comedy with a sharp premise, strong visuals, and a light touch despite its grim idea. Not an Oscar play, but smart and entertaining. 8/10

A topical comedy of errors. A gorgeous looking, masterfully edited, briskly paced dark comedy that takes some jabs at this unemployment-inflicted society that places higher value on the use of AI or keeping a demeaning job over real physical and mental interaction with a human.

the character work, encapsulating story, and cinematography that had shots so good they actually managed to capture lee byung-hun’s beauty, this movie was soooo good i loved it as someone who knew nothing going into it. def checking out more of park chan-wook

This is without a doubt what would’ve been my pick for the 2025 best picture winner, what a fucking movie, it’s darkly comedic, thrilling, starts slow but pays off masterfully, and to top it all off the fucking visuals harbour some of the best nature shots and use of mise-en-scene I have ever seen.

No other choice is an incredible work of art, as Park-Chan Wook masterfully directing this weird-adjacent thriller makes for a helluva good time, you can see some Oldboy influence but not as much as you’d think.

1st Act 8.9/10 (Slow-start but you don’t feel it, just a case of could cut, but not worth it.)

2nd Act 9.5/10 (Some of the best scenes using guns I’ve seen, makes it feel so in the moment and full of grit.)

3rd Act 9.8/10 (Some of the best use of extreme close-ups I’ve ever seen, makes you feel so with him and yet so disgusted.)

Plot 9.6/10 (Couldn’t have been made at a better time, maybe the French Revolution but idk.)

Soundtrack/Score 9.8/10 (The cello is so good holy fuck, and the songs? So peak.)

Acting 10/10 (Lee Byung-Hun gives a masterful performance, to the point I need to see more.)

Pacing 9.2/10 (Slow-start but you don’t feel any of it, just could be shorter.)

Cinematography 9.7/10 (THE LIGHTER SHOT AND THE TREE WHAT THE FUCK.)

Character Development 9.6/10 (What a fucking development, like holy shit was it good at points.)

Writing 9.4/10 (The whole tree is amazing, dialogue can lack though, still amazing.)

Ending 9.5/10 (What a fucking ending, that’s what I wanted to see bravo.)

Direction 10/10 (Park-chan Wook can direct, better yet, he’s my favourite working today.)
