Didn't expect to like this but watched in advance of Oscars. Pleasantly surprised how much we enjoyed it. Cooper is excellent. 30 mins too long.

Epic storytelling. I loved it! I’m glad I haven’t seen the original because I liked not knowing where the story was heading.

Very enjoyable all though the film doesn’t fully pick up until the second half. In the beginning I wasn’t sure Bradley was going to talk at all. I think they made it perfectly especially in the last hour. It really makes you feel like you waited for something amazing. You did.

A bit long but I watched this on a plane with nowhere to go. Bradley Cooper was awesome and the twists + ending made it worth it. @donny nice rec

I watched this film in my film class. It’s directed by Guillermo del Toro, but it doesn’t really feel like a typical Guillermo del Toro movie.

I expected to see the kind of fantastic creatures and dark fantasy elements that he is known for, but that wasn’t the case. The only unusual elements were a “baby” inside a jar (which was definitely strange enough) and a character who appeared to be more animalistic or savage.

This film is based on the novel of the same name by author William Lindsay Gresham.

Damn that is some movie bro 😭 plot be crazy

The first Guillermo Del Toro I haven’t liked. It was so long and so boring. Nothing unique or interesting about the story.

Der Film hat mich leider in der zweiten Hälfte komplett verloren. Den Teil im Wanderzirkus fand ich durchaus interessant, aber alles danach eher komisch und schlecht erklärt. Was war das Motiv der Psychiaterin?
Das Ende war ganz ok.

For most of the movie I was having a great time but I knew it wasn’t going to have a happy ending but man was that a bummer. The sets, costumes, score were all breathtaking I love the world that was built. The only negative I will state is I didn’t buy Mr Coopers performance.

I honestly would've preferred staying at the carnival for longer or even the whole runtime.
