They waited 2 years to finish filming this thing because they wanted 18 year old titties, what the fuck.

Also for a noir it’s hella boring and the climax is a cluster of stupidity with one of the cartooniest fight scenes. Gene Hackman is the best thing about it and Faye Dunaway should pray an extra 2 rakats every night for picking Chinatown over this. Now that’s a 70s noir.

Gene Hackman was charming as ever, but this felt really slow to me. The characters were a little thinly written and their relationships didn’t feel believable

Only thing stopping this from being a great movie to me is Melanie Griffith's role. Multiple inappropriate scenes written for a 16 year old actress. Besides that, a very intense plot that ends very abruptly.

Underrated neo-noir with Gene Hackman as a smooth talking PI. All he characters here feel real and genuine, and I can’t quite pin it, but there’s an overall sincerity to the film and it’s slowburn uncovering. What a wild final 5min too.

Would be higher, but the ending was good but rushed. The end just felt rushed and seemed to be missing so context. Good movie and good acting.

Strange little film. Just kinda kooky. Hackman is good, but that’s a given.
