Network Reviews

Television is not the truth. Television is a goddamned amusement park.

Network

Timeless

Que loucura, um filme lançado há exatos 50 anos ser tão atual... O diálogo com o dono da emissora chega a ser assustador! 🤯
Apesar de ter seus delírios o filme é quase uma previsão... Infelizmente hoje em dia está até pior. Nota 7,5.

Anything to keep a job ig
“You have meddled with the primal forces of nature” “I won’t have it” “You will atone”

the fact that this film exists at all is genuinely interesting and insanely cool. overall an amazing “television” drama with complex and well-written characters. the tone of the narrative is eerily ominous and unsettling at times with psychological aspects underlying everything

Great examination of the sensationalism & exploitative nature of modern media. Magnificent monologues & amazing visual set pieces. I wasn't hooked right away, but the direction & screenplay are so rich that I couldn't help getting swept away. The entire cast absolutely kills it.

any film about network television can link back to succession if you’re sick enough in the head (★★★★½)

Smart & prescient with an exciting last 30 minutes. I’m glad we caught onto the role of corps in controlling practically everything and did something about it before it was too late. YOU HAVE MEDDLED WITH THE PRIMAL FORCES OF NATURE MR BEALE AND I WONT HAVE IT AND YOU WILL ATONE.

Like the myth of Athena being born from Zeus's head, I think Rupert Murdoch was born from the reels of Network.

A semi confusing movie in terms of plot and what the main message of the movie is. Some beautiful shots

Easily on the top 10 must watch movies. Watched it multiple times, loved it every time. A stark warning of things they may come to pass turned into a biting prophecy of the zeitgeist of American culture in the post “alternative facts” American reality. A serious, dramatized Idiocracy. Mood: satire, dramatic, the human condition, meaningful dialogue.

Holy shit, one of the best things I’ve ever seen in my life EVER

now, THIS is a movie. amazing story, amazing script, amazing acting. its passionate and right in your face. it’s also insanely depressing. i have so much to say that i did say on my letterboxd review but alas, this app makes me stop yapping

7.8

A very well framed film that completely exceeded my expectations - that scene with the boss at the end of the table is iconic

This might be my new favorite movie of all time. Holy shit.

Yoo this shit’s deep damn. Watched it again at 17, and the writing and everything is great.

Great acting

Crítica social obligada para todo crítico y empedernido por los medios de comunicación y política. Es una auténtica maravilla a la que se podría decir que "predijo" la televisión actual, pero más bien es una crítica a lo que ya ocurría en ese momento. Película digna de estudio...
