"I mean, it's a very frightening thing, Wally, to have to suddenly realize that, my God, I thought I was living my life, but in fact I haven't been a human being. I've been a performer."
I knew I had to rewatch this masterpiece again. This is literally one of the best films ever-

When you’re on your 37th "that’s crazy" and the other person still doesn’t get the hint.
This yappity yap yapper just got off the yapstation from yapcentral all the way from yapperville.
In all seriousness this is a straight up think piece and I absolutely enjoyed it!

Watched it at a time when I needed a path back to feeling human. The film is intimate and shot to feel like you’re there with Wally and Andre. At times fascinating, nonsensical, philosophical, even pretentious. I can see myself coming back to this one.

In an astounding test of naturalistic acting skill, Andre Gregory and Wallace Shawn pass with flying colors. This film is just one long conversation and it is the most fascinating and intellectually stimulating conversation that you will ever watch.

My Dinner with Andre feels more like a play than a film but this actually works quite well for the story. The story of course is phenomenal. This is one of those films that really makes you think not only about the nature of the film but about your own life. 9/10

The Art of conversation and just listening to one another is something that you don’t see much of nowadays. Bravo 👏

for a feature film entirely surrounding one conversation, my interest and engagement never wavered. perfectly written and performed with meaningful philosophical discourse, a film that will likely assist its viewers through life and open many eyes. pretty exceptional

So frustrating that Rex from Toy Story and Andre from My Dinner With Andre are both SO relatable and interesting to me, yet, they’re old as Fuck.
Instant favorite.

Very thought provoking, paced perfectly, and acted beautifully. A must watch for pretty much anyone with a slight interest in film.

One of the most interesting conversation captured in a movie-like experience, expressing an interesting point of view of our everyday lives, absolutely worth watching.

This movie did not age well. I’m sure it was profound for its time, but nothing about their conversations felt relevant or inspiring. Instead, I felt a deep sense of outdated cynicism and denialism in the writing that I just could not agree with.
