This is quite incredible. This film gives us an intimate and harrowing look into the horrors of propagandizing education and the heartbreaking effects it has. It is so powerful to see someone with a unique position step up and gain the courage to do something. Talankin risks so much to make a statement and show the world what is happening behind closed doors and does so with such care and intentionality. The film is so inspiring and upsetting all in one and I hope viewers can see how relevant this is to today’s world, and not just in Russia.

This unassuming, novice videographer becomes a filmmaker overnight delivering a perspective on a war that most don’t get a chance to see. It’s organic and raw, building unintentional tension. It makes you think how fragile democracy is and how quickly things can become abnormal

Reminder the power that freedom of speech has. Militarization of children born into their situation makes me sick. Reminiscing on my favorite teachers and hope his students feel the same way for speaking out.

Surprised this was Academy Award winning when I found the other documentaries more compelling, but nonetheless still an incredible look inside a Russian school after the start of their war. The propaganda progression is continuously fascinating.

Really interesting insight into Russian education. However, this chap seemed to be on a bit of a vendetta because he lost out on the best teacher award

Not my cup of tea

i know it must be hard for both sides of the war, but in my opinion he made it seem like living in russia is so much harder than being in an actual war

What an incredibly brave man.

this documentary is a must watch, for everyone. it depicts so well how propaganda and indoctrination seep into education systems, along with how it terribly effects the whole world. some of the negative responses to this film are valid, specifically the critique of how the movie sort of makes it seem like russia was just fine before 2022. other than that, i have no complaints. this documentary’s messages don’t just apply to russia, it applies to every country around the world, including the united states. “love for your country is not about putting up a flag. it is not about singing the anthem either. it’s not about exploitation and propaganda. love for your country means saying, ‘we have a problem’”.

Gripping, yet oddly paced. Good doc.

“Mr. Nobody Against Putin" is a fascinating documentary that gives a unique, offbeat glimpse into the Ukrainian war—like if Jojo Rabbit grew up and got serious. Eye-opening, intense, and entirely unforgettable.
