Prepping for Hathaway by checking the Unicorn fallout. Expected a triumphant follow-up but got a messy, tragic epilogue. Great mecha action, but the story kinda lost me.

What Worked:
Making the psycho-frame light look “angry” gives the golden Phenex an eerie, ghostly presence. Sawano’s heavy score keeps the skirmishes super dynamic. Also, framing the story around traumatized childhood friends gave the conflict a raw emotional anchor.

The Friction:
The middle really dragged for me; getting bogged down in exposition and “space magic” lore stalls the momentum. Zoltan feels like a half-baked, one-dimensional villain. Plus, the blend of 2D characters and stiff 3D CGI mecha felt pretty jarring in spots.

Verdict:
Watch if you’re a hardcore UC completionist. Skip if you want a tight standalone narrative; this gets way too tangled in lore.
