Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

7.2 - I know right now I need a second watch, because regardless of the IMAX screen & the loud action, I was way too tired at my 11pm showing to fully lock in for the first hour or so.

When this was just a clip show of the other 7 movies I watched over the last week, I was not feeling it. But in the back 2/3 when it turned into classic MI big action & decent suspense I enjoyed myself for the most part.

I wish some of the new characters got more time. I still don’t love the idea of “The Entity” as much as I did more of the non-faceless villains, but this story rounded it out a bit better. I’m split on how much I liked some of the revisited stories, referential twists, & some of the semi-forced callbacks.

Overall, I think it’s a serviceable & clean closure to a 30 year story that does what it can (or does too much?) to be accessible to new fans, but it’s unfortunately near the bottom of the MI series as a whole.

Plot is nonsense and first half of movie is legitimately boring. I’m not convinced anyone cares for the characters or plot in these movies but it doesn’t matter because Tom Cruise is the last movie star (yeah I said it) and the action is awesome. Few legit jaw dropping sequences (one underwater segment is sooooo cool) make this worth seeing in theaters. Good movie? Not really. Great and fun watch if you’re into this kind of thing and know what you’re getting into? You bet 🎯

this movie is just so,,, unserious. “ethan you’re our only hope” “ethan you did it” “you’re our last chance at survival”. anti-ai but also tom cruise fantasy of being earths most important person and getting to date hayley atwell??? honestly i forgot most of the plot as the movie went on and in a day i will remember NONE of what occurred here. it’s just all around not good. don’t watch, PLEASE. this franchise is just so boring

tom cruise as well as ethan hunts ability to defy physics, time, and space still amazes me. No more than this movie where he survives 500 ft under water and hypothermia, and then to cavalierly fly his ragged tired body 500 ft in the air, all within 24. Hope he enjoys retirement
