Miracle on 34th Street
cute movie but the guy ruined it, wtf is wrong with him?
After one date (he had to beg her for) not even proposing, but literally having her open the ring herself and then having the audacity to be offended she declined, at the end Santa basically pressures her into marrying him

8/10 This is such a nostalgic movie to me which is why it is a love. We watched this every year at Christmas time when I was a kid.

I’ve seen the original, and this just didn’t compare. It felt like a lesser version with nothing new to make it stand out.

This was lovely. I loved that the little girl overruled all the adult men in the end, little kids rule! It’s clear that those men should keep their hands off of our traditions and what we believe in. Loved this. Which there was more storyline. of the kid though. 4.5 out of 5 star

Really good Christmas movie. Unfortunately I haven’t seen the original. All around a good family film and COMPLETELY carried by Richard Attenborough, this doesn’t mean the rest is bad, his performance is just unbelievable. A feel-good the whole way through with great characters.

Good movie. The idea of Santa Clause in this movie is weird though. Does he or does he not exist? It is very confusing but still an enjoyable movie. The mom did not deserve the lawyer guy though. He was too kind for her.

How is this LESS progressive than the 1940s one? Good cast, otherwise just fine. Too much hand holding and weird messages surrounding the engagement. Probably won't rewatchh.

Scrap what I said about ‘Fred Claus’ being connected to Tim Allen’s ‘The Santa Clause’ because it doesn’t actually make sense
BUT
It makes sense here.
Kris Kringle is Santa Claus, just like how Scott Calvin is Santa Claus.
Both movies came out the same year. Yes I know this is a remake of an older movie but still.
Kris Kringle goes through the events of this movie when he’s on the look out for his replacement Santa, he’s already got Scott Calvin as his #1 replacement but is still scouting, and as he is, all of this movie occurs. In which Kris Kringle has fulfilled himself as Santa Claus to the people and accepts that he’s passing the mantle of Santa Claus to Scott Calvin.
We last see Kris leaving the courthouse because he’s got to go to the North Pole, because it’s Christmas Eve. Now, theoretically if Santa did exist his most efficient route would take him to Canada, where Scott Calvin lives, before America, in which this movie takes place, obviously, in NYC.
So. In order for Kris to have delivered upon Susan’s Christmas wish he would’ve had to have used his Santa Magic, which is touched upon HEAVILY in ‘The Santa Clause’ movies, especially considering it wasn’t a physical gift and he needed to conjure it all up. Therefore, Kris Kringle had done all of that before arriving in Canada, on Scott Calvin’s roof and falling off, intentionally, as we know from Season 1 Episode 5 of ‘The Santa Clauses’ Disney+ Show.
Then the events of ‘The Santa Clause’ takes place and now Scott Calvin is Santa Claus.
Now I’m sure it doesn’t make perfect sense. But it’s something.

I enjoy this version better than the original. They cover some aspects of the adult relationships the older version barely leaned into. Having faith and believing is being open to their possibility. Great cast, heart warming and a seasonal classic. Would recommend for your holiday viewing. 🎅
