Minions: The Rise of Gru

Can always count on Minions for a good cheap laugh with zero emotional or strong storyline 😂

was alright. enjoyed seeing the minions in their 70s era 😉

Rated: 7.4/10 ⭐️

I love watching these goofy animated flicks on a chill weekend. I honestly love this nostalgic sequel; it brings a fun 70s vibe and an awkward Gru origin.

What Worked:
• Carell pitching his voice up for an 11-year-old Gru honestly cracks me up.
• The 70s aesthetic and funk soundtrack totally carry the movie’s energy.
• Yeoh voicing an acupuncturist who teaches them kung fu is pure comedic gold.

The Friction:
• The Vicious 6 scenes really dragged for me; I just wanted more of Gru and Knuckles.
• Otto’s solo road trip side quest felt a little disconnected from the main pacing.
• The zodiac animal climax honestly felt way too chaotic, losing that silly minion charm.

Verdict:
Watch for a breezy, funky comedy. Skip if non-stop slapstick annoys you.
