6/10 I expected way more from this. I enjoyed the investigation and how they worked out what they had. But the ending wasn’t all that great like everyone makes out. I found it quite funny at points. Why did they fight everyone they looked into

What a film! Another one that’s taken me far too long to watch.

What struck me most was the perfect balance between comedy and the displays of horror in the attacks - and even more how those moments of comedy were scary in and of themselves, showcasing how inept the police were to handle the case. Fantastic use of both original score and existing musical cues to add to the suspense and horror of certain situations. Cinematography, whilst not being particularly flashy, captures everything with impeccable framing and motion when required.

Song Kang-Ho was the only actor I recognised in the film, of course from Bong’s other films - he was fantastic once again here. He really leaned into the simple mind of the character and those comedic/head-slapping moments were incredibly effective as a result.

Not going to lie, it took me out then that detective kept going around fly-kicking folk in the spur of the moment. Brilliant film, haunting final frame.
