Memories of Murder
The plot was such bullshit sometimes during this movie and such an unsatisfying ending, very overrated movie

Memories of Murder
One of the best endings in history, only few have such a lasting impression.
Watched the whole thing because of that one stare.
Loved the vibes of the movie, the soundtrack and the way Bong Joon-ho delivered his messages effortlessly. Would recommend.

Memories of Murder
"Turn yourself in, or may you rot and die".
What a movie, like my god that was an experience, where do I even begin, let’s start off with the pros (there’s a lot), the acting is some of the greatest I’ve ever seen, the cinematography rivals that of Kurosawa himself, the pacing while almost perfect has like 2 moments for a couple minutes where it’s slow, the movie has not one, not two, but three goddamn standout scenes.
Memories Of Murder is one of those movies that will stick with you where you want it to or not, the storytelling could have made Shakespeare spit out his tea, while there aren’t many movies that are guaranteed to stick around, I believe, with every fibre of my being, this belongs right next to Perfect Blue and Grave Of The Fireflies which stick all stick around longer than a movie should, in the best way possible.
The ending deserves its own paragraph, (MASSIVE SPOILER AVERT YOUR EYES WEE WOO WEE WOO WEE WOO) there are 2 distinct endings that memories of murder brings, the first being the overarching story ending, which gives us one of if not the greatest scene in the history of cinema, with everything being on point to the actual point it’s not even funny, the second one is more of a different kind of pace, as it’s an ending you would never be expecting and yet you’ll come out of it wondering, how can something that smart, be that original?
Plot 10/10 (the way this shit progresses brought a tear to my filmmaker eye)
Soundtrack/Score 10/10 (literally went onto Spotify to add them to my playlist the second the movie was done)
Acting 10/10 (one of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen, shout out Kim Sang-Kyung)
Cinematography 10/10 (has one of my favourite shots in film)
Character Development 9.2/10 (don’t really develop much, except Detective Cho Yong-Koo,)
Writing 10/10 (my god around 40 minutes before the end I could not have been any more invested in what was going on even if it was my own family)
Ending 11/10 (how can you manage to have 2 and make both of them PEAK)
Direction 10/10 (Bong is going in my top 5 I don’t even care this is my only one he deserves that shit)
Overall 10/10
