I laughed, I cried a little bit. Heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. Wonderful movie about high school and friendship. Painful film about change and loss.

When I say I often imagine my life as a movie, THIS is what I mean. This movie feels like the end of summer and loss of innocence or maybe that just because that’s the time frame that I watched it in anyways, I did not expect this movie to wreck the way it did. The performances are so good here and the film is shot remarkably well for a coming of age movie and the soundtrack is amazing!! I have not stop thinking about this movie ever since I watched it!! It’s a time capsule in a sense of the time that it was released and set in and also serves as a reminder that time is precious and you need make good use of it cause you can’t get it back once it’s gone. Time and people are similar in which they are a constant in our lives and that there can be good and bad times but the best ones are the one you remember and the ones that you cherish. This movie made me reflect on my own senior year and much like Greg I shut myself out and isolated myself when I should’ve been more approachable and more inviting but I was in my head the whole time and I regret it and this movie made me realize that I just need to go for things and put myself out there in the world. It’s incredibly sad but also incredibly healing!! Can’t recommend this movie enough!!!!!

9/10 - Such a good film. Perfect balance of comedic and emotional scenes. Great cast, great characters, amazing performances and beautiful story, the score fit so well also. I love the way that they used the narration and time jumps. Most of all I loved the camera work, so good.

Read the book and honestly I think they did pretty well with capturing the same feeling that the book had. Not entirely accurate to novel but still a really great watch. Its much lighter than Fault in Our Stars, but still an emotional story about grief, loss, and friendship.

Great movie, I really enjoyed it, just wish it was a bit more energetic, more colorful, yes I understand that the whole point is cancer absolutely draining Rachel of life, but it was just such a monotone movie, also I wish something happened with Madison, ended up with Earl or...

this is a beautiful coming-of-age film about grief, loss, and friendship. i liked the use of narration and camera work, and i was pleased greg chose the hospital over prom. the end is heartbreaking—it made me cry. i almost wish it were a romance, but it still had heart and humor!

Delightfully surprised at how much it’s for ‘film people’ as it has very stylish sequences. Dialogue is very witty, fun & relatable that got me laughing out loud, helped by how charming the MC and how endeared Rachel is by him despite his social awkwardness. It hits all of the…

Beginning felt like it was trying to be quirky and weird for no reason, none of the humor landed and I couldn’t really connect with the main character. But as the movie progressed the pieces starting fitting together. Turned out to be pretty funny and touching. Could turn to love

8.6 - Damn, this one tugged hard on the heartstrings. For such a tough topic & a story that has a lot of potential to go wrong, it handles its subject delicately & with a lot of care. It’s well balanced between sweet, sad, & quirky - just very well written, shot, & scored. The fourth wall breaking interaction is not a distraction or a crutch to move the story along but instead keeps it grounded & personal. All of the leads handle their roles exceptionally well, especially Olivia Cooke.
It sits with in the same zone as similar stories for me - 50/50, Our Friend, etc. - but handling this topic through a YA lens is always going to seem very difficult to me, & this deserves major props for pulling it off.

this movie made me laugh out loud and also is one of the few movies i’ve ever seen to make me cry - truly an emotionally rich story that has you going through all sorts of ups and downs with the characters - really hard ending to watch but very beautiful in the same way

I loooove this movie. Has been one of my favorites since I first saw it as a teen. It’s wholesome and heartwarming, it’ll make you laugh & it’ll make you cry. I love the friendship between Greg, Rachel, and Earl, and I love all of the film parodies they make & film references.

Emotional to its core and not your typical teen cancer narrative. In the background of this film is a deep love letter to movies. All around I think it balances humor and heartbreak beautifully, entertaining through and through.
