Thuspenthful

I feel like they added overly dramatic music to try and hide that this was a boring movie. There is an interesting story here, but I was left unsatisfied and confused. I didn’t understand Portman’s character at all, and would love if someone could explain.

There is no comedy in this movie I don't know why it's labeled as a dark comedy. To me, this story just never found its flow. I see the vision the director had, I just think it wasn't executed properly. Lots of scenes with questionable motives. It's great to see Portman again tho

A very challenging watch but one that is very impactful. The performances are very quiet and understated, but incredibly moving. Many of my favorite moments were watching Portman slowly and subtly adopt the mannerisms of Moore’s character as she studies her subject.

I thought the cinematography was very interesting, with the subjects often being at the very edge of the frame. It made things feel consistently uneasy and off.

My biggest frustration is that I wish Elizabeth’s storyline and intentions were a bit clearer. I’ve seen a lot of discussion online, but it seems widely disagreed upon. I think with this tightened up, I would have really loved this.

So I guess the ‘camp’ went way over my head because I never laughed out loud while watching this but I think I was aware of its absurdity when dramatic ominous music queued at very weird moments; it’s just the disturbing weight of the relationship was always my main focus. I…
