Matt and Mara

This made my dad cry, whatever that means. On this watch I take back what I said before about Matt being evil evil in this movie. I think he is a very sad man here. I think he is playing emotional games but he is not evil necessarily. But he does do that thing men love to do where they play games in this land of plausible deniability and I think that’s what she’s getting at when they argue in the car. Like she’s upset that she feels like she doesn’t even have the option to be upset because if she tries to fully be like you went out with that woman to make me jealous or even if it wasn’t to make me jealous there was something like there was a kind of pact between them in that time that he knowingly disrupted by taking her out, in Mara’s car mind you, if she said any of that he would be able to be like well how was I supposed to know any of that or whatever whatever because she basically rejected him by not inviting him up to her room even though I agree like she’s said she only had 30 minutes before her panel and she wanted to take a nap like totally fair. But I think by cutting him off and ending the interaction it was a huge rejection for him. Like I don’t even think that he wanted to go to her room for sex or anything I think it was more of a forcing him to be alone kind of thing that hurt him more. And I could be projecting onto his character cause we really don’t have a lot to go off of for him but like his dad is dying he’s reaching out desperately for this connection with Mara and then she’s denying him that. So I think him going out with that woman may have been subconsciously to make her jealous but also I think he doesn’t like being alone. Idk much to think about mmm mmm. These characters are so compelling to me I really want to understand them they feel so human. Deragh Campbell’s performance is so natural and real and amazing in this and Matt’s is good too but I don’t think he deserves that much credit because I know he is not acting and that’s literally just him and also I have personal beef with Matt Johnson where I hate him and I hate what he has done to me. He knows what he did Matt Johnson when I catch you Matt Johnson.

loved it but hated the ending and expected a better outcome 🙁 i love all matt johnson movies tho and i’m hoping more people will find this one!! cant believe im thenonly review so far

the dialogue in this film might be the single most authentic piece of dialogue i've seen in a movie.
