It’s not remotely plausible, but with Willis’ McClane leaping onto the tailfins of passing jet fighters and bringing down helicopters by launching police cars at them, there’s enough stuff blowing up that action fans won’t mind much.

Definitely not the best of the sequel but I don’t think it was really that bad how people made it out to be the hacking story was so cool and Matt with John chemistry worked surprisingly well

Everything you want out of the franchise. Hacker villains feels a little thin but natural for the time. Liked Long and Willis together.

I used to think this movie was so advanced & high tech action. Rewatching it’s a decent die hard but doesn’t hold up to today’s technology. Ultimately aged not the best but you see early 2010s peak unc slop action. Not worth having on DVD because it’s in every goodwill

Threw this on for 4th of July because a patriotic McClane flick felt perfect. Absolutely love how this upgrades his old-school grit into the digital age with insane action.
What Worked:
• Practical stunts honestly look incredible with a brutal weight that completely pops.
• Olyphant makes a great, calculating villain with a lot of sharp menace.
• Justin Long’s chemistry with Willis is super fun, balancing tough guy and tech nerd.
The Friction:
• The F-35 jet chasing the semi truck part near the end really dragged for me.
• The PG-13 rating honestly toned down some of McClane’s classic, raw edge.
Verdict:
Watch for a high-octane blockbuster. Skip if logic-defying stunts annoy you.

I have the exact same issues with this entry as I did the third. The first half is excellent - ridiculous, granted, but great fun. However, the second half is just dull and loses all momentum, topped off with a pretty eye-roll worthy finale.
The story is actually fairly scary in a world where we’re so reliant on technology; I think the narrative has a greater impact now than in 2007 when people weren’t as aware. Even if the technology on screen is obviously outdated, the core threat holds up.
Bruce Willis does a good job of keeping things fun; his one-liners are potentially the best they’ve been in the entire series. Unfortunately, Timothy Olyphant is a bit of weak villain. It’s annoying how much potential these sequels have, only to lose it by either blowing their load too soon or going way to OTT in the climax. But hey, the worst is still yet to come with A Good Day to Die Hard.
