This moves slow as molasses but it doesn’t really have the depth that such a film needs. It wasn’t necessarily boring, but there’s really nothing new or inspiring.

This film is very somber, but shot beautifully. The dialogue is a little clunky and the plot is fairly straightforward. It won’t break the mold, but serves as a solid, if uninspiring, contemporary western.

Kevin Costner and Diane Lane made a great team throughout this movie. The ending was so sad, but it was one I was kind of expecting.

I don’t really know what I was expecting when going into this film, needless to say I really enjoyed it. This film does a great job of creating a setting and time frame by just what’s happening around it, the movie never has to TELL me. Films like these are fantastic.
