Last Breath

6.3 - Incredible story. Not quite enough here for a feature length film maybe?

The performances are strong, the story is gripping enough, & the underwater photography & cinematography is done incredibly well. But it felt long at only 90ish minutes (not including the 20 minute delay when my screening froze).

The main issue I have is an issue with all documentary film adaptations. The resolution is clear so early, just by the nature of the story being told, that a disappointing level of tension is lost. This story never gets told if it’s not a miracle. So when the climax shifts from person to person & all their actions, dragging the “tension” out, it feels long. And to do so in service of a rushed finale that gives the true follow up & resolution a few sentences laid over landscape shots, I felt a bit cheated.

Great “dad movie,” easy enough to engage in, & it made me want to see the documentary so it more than does its job. I was just a little hopeful for something a little more.

how on earth can a human survive 29min without oxygen 300ft under sea level is beyond me. bro should go get a lottery ticket.

it’s well produced, definitely could have executed it a bit better imo. the plot was simple but still solid.

wish there was a bit more backstory to it tbh.

them diving in a middle of a fucking storm is also stupid. hope they learned their fucking lesson smh.

About 15 minutes too long but it was ok. I felt stressed watching it so that was effective at least?

Pretty good movie had me on the edge of my seat. I’d probably feel more “meh” about it if it wasn’t a true story.
