Another banger from DreamWorks, truly an amazing movie, it feels like half its runtime, it develops its characters incredibly well and it leaves you both satisfied and excited for what’s to come. While I’d personally say the first one is better, the one thing I can give the king fu panda franchise, is that these are some boss ass villains.

1st Act 8.8/10 (Pretty decent but Po can be really annoying during some parts, love the flashback scenes though.)

2nd Act 9.2/10 (The whole first big fight scene with Shen is an immaculate couple of scenes.)

3rd Act 9.7/10 (Generational levels of peak, the animation is spectacular, the characters are insanely well developed and the flashbacks scenes are at their peak.)

Plot 8.9/10 (Works a lot better than I expect it to tbh.)

Soundtrack/Score 8.5/10 (Pretty good, fitting and helps to give the same vibe as the first.)

Acting 9/10 (It’s Gary fucking Oldman come the fuck on.)

Pacing 9.2/10 (Overall it feels really short but it can be quite slow at times, like 2-3 4 minute bursts.)

Cinematography 9.3/10 (A small competitor to Spiderverse level animation, wouldn’t win but it’s fire.)

Character Development 9.6/10 (A major standout of the sequel, I WANT MORE MONKEY STUFF.)

Writing 9.1/10 (The whole inner peace shtick was pretty good, wish we got MORE FUCKING MONKEY STUFF.)

Ending 9/10 (Nice conclusion, will I watch the last one, nah probably not.)

Direction 8/10 (Just decent, not much to comment on at all.)

I mean doesn’t get much better than this

A gorgeous movie. Stunning visuals, world building and story telling. The story of this sequel doesn’t play off the previous movie’s story but instead gives us some insight into the main character’s origins and how his dad (a bird) is not his father as the MC is a panda. Perfect.

It was good

Kung Fu Panda 2 gets a little darker and slushier than the first, but never loses sight of its objective: fun, fun, fun. The animation is outstanding, and the story has enough surprises to make it new.
