The eleventh movie I saw for my film class… the acting was phenomenal, it captured the effect of divorce perfectly.

Nominated for 9 Oscar’s and won 5. Superb acting all around especially from little Justin Henry. He really breaks your heart. And obviously Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman are the best.

This one hit home. I mean you already have elite casting and the topic of movie always gets to me. To watch Dustin’s character change from a semi-absent alcoholic to a devoted and passionate dad always brings me to tears

All timer acting couple. I meh’d it probably because I’m scarred by my parents divorce. 😂 it’s great for real.

I really enjoyed this film because of how realistically it portrays the difficulties of going through a divorce. For its time, the idea of a mother leaving her child and a father suddenly having to take care of him was probably not something commonly represented on screen. Because of that, the film challenges the traditional idea of family and, most importantly, traditional gender roles.

Buena la quería ver hace bastante, muy tierna y triste al mismo tiempo, el nene es todo🫶🏽 la relación con el , la parte del juicio un poco más tediosa o lenta pero bien igual creo q todo se solucionaba mejor con charlar y llegaban a él mismo final 🤷🏽‍♀️

Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep performances are so good, and their son is so cute.

In what world does a harsh, precipitated, and impulsive decision like that ever goes to a court decision was beyond me. Dustin Hoffman’s Character shows a lot of maturity and calm throughout the storm!

Loved it back in the day 6.5/10. Very Sad 😭

tipo de drama que eu gosto e com uma construção narrativa muito consistente. ninguém é vilanizado e vc se comove com todos.
+a figura do filho me confundiu muito pq ele o menino não parecia ter a idade descrita e o personagem era muito consciente pra uma criança.

Super grounded film, it’s too real! The dad is so understanding and the actor is like it’s fr happening! The mother needs to collect herself, who is she?

a spectacular film on divorce that handles hard-hitting topics such as existentialism and parenthood incredibly well. dustin hoffman kills it as always, perfectly utilizing a superb script. a wonderful mix of drama and humor, deeply moving
