I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCHHHHH. A movie filled with dialogue and monologues about love and personas and the entire complexity of your feelings. The need to wear a mask in order to deem yourself worthy of love from someone whose affection you seek, or needing to take one off in a demonstration of love and trust. It’s been two years since I’ve watched the show and this was a wonderful reminder of why it’s my #3 anime of all time. The comedic moments hit and the characters are so lovable. The story, despite its sometimes shallow and satirical appearance, is interwoven with beautiful themes of youth and love and innocence. It is in my eyes the greatest romance anime of all time and I don’t think there’s much of a debate. This specific movie wraps up Shinomiya and Shirogane’s romance perfectly and leaves you feeling very satisfied.

As it stands, we just don’t know if there will be a season 4 to this show. It seems inevitable that there will be - it’s extremely popular and well-regarded, but the studio has been busy and there’s been absolutely no word. But, if this is where the series is left off, I have no problem with that. Honestly, it might be for the best that this is where it ends. This is a beautiful ending.

This character goes super in-depth on the character of Kaguya, and it does it so well. At first, the way they handled her character seemed like a bit of a departure or retcon from the way her character had been developing up to this point. However, as I kept watching, I realized what they were doing, and they did such a good job. This is a character study of Kaguya Shinomiya, and it explores her character in such a unique and captivating way. Miyuki is great in this as well, but Kaguya really takes center stage here.

I’m still not sure whether I should put this in like or love. This was such a beautiful movie, and I LOVE the series as a whole, but I’m just not sure it belongs in love in isolation. Good news is, this is my rating and I can do what I want! Praying for a season 4, however likely or unlikely it may be. No matter how perfect of an ending this would be, I would never say no to seeing more of these characters 🙏

And seriously, the way the English dub narrator talks in the tender moments😭

I already adore this series and the movie really just sums everything up perfectly.

I also appreciated that they showed more background on the main characters, it gave more depth into the couples struggles and better vision of their view point.
