Jurassic Park III
I like it more than number 2 but less than number 1, of course. I don't think any Jurassic movie could beat number 1. The reason I like this more than number 2 is because although the plot and dialogue are mediocre at best, it's straightforward and weirdly understandable. The characters have personality again, hate them or love them, at least thier not boring. The dinosaur scenes were thrilling, and the sets had variety to them as a journey should. There's barely any tension, though, and the scenes are forgettable. Plus, the cast is a lot weaker.

Just rewatched Jurassic Park III. It’s still my favorite in the trilogy. Probably because it was my first “scary” movie as a kid. That opening scene is just so good. The plane crash, the aviary, the boat are some of my all-time favorite Jurassic scenes are in this one. And the toddler getting distracted by Barney? Iconic. It still holds up for me. Feels nostalgic and fun every time. 🦖

Jurassic Park III
Jurassic Park III is a fast-paced survival adventure where a rescue mission on a dinosaur island quickly turns into chaos. It’s intense, full of action, and keeps the pressure high the whole time with nonstop danger and escapes.

Although shorter than its predecessors in both length and budget, the audience is not short changed. Joe Johnston does a respectable job as director, keeping the pace brisk and the action moving.

I really don’t remember this movie but I do really remember not liking it. I remember the plot just being so overly ridiculous and absurd that I lost all interest. And similar to the second movie the new characters were either uninteresting or annoying.

Damn, Sam Neill is phenomenal in this! A brilliant movie. Almost as great as the first, but nothing can top the original.

Like the second film, this one actually held up really well on a rewatch!
It’s not perfect, and Spielberg’s absence is felt in many scenes where the dynamics you know and love from his films are missing, but Joe Johnston makes a decent effort at replicating the magic. I actually think the set-up to this is all really solid, it’s a hard task to come up with a reason for any of these characters to willingly return to either of the islands, and the idea conjured actually feels reasonable and adds a great tidbit to the story.
Whilst Laura Dern felt wasted, her absence was necessary - and she makes the most of her limited screen time anyway. But Sam Neil, again - what a performer, he makes Alan Grant one of the coolest characters in a franchise to me. Supporters are fine too, even if 25% of their dialogue is just to shout different character names at a jarring volume.
What brings this together for me is the family element - it’s what made the most recent entry, Rebirth work for me in the way it did. Actually a very solid entry that I’m going to look back on more fondly than I did prior.
