After the mess of Madeas destination wedding...HELL YEAH, this was amazing.
The humor was hilarious, and I mean great, I have absolutely no problem with the profanity, it made the movie great.
I just wish BJ himself like showed that he changed, wither his voice, or appearance

Another great Perry movie. It was actually pretty funny.

I'm not sure how to describe this movie in words. It's like a sweet message inside a carnival but in a good way.

I expected a funny Tyler Perry spin-off, but the jarring shifts between goofy antics and heavy trauma left me totally confused.

What Worked:
Watson’s camera captures the South beautifully, grounding the historical landmarks. Perry brings genuine timing to the grandfather-grandson dynamic. Through my Methodist faith lens, Joe guiding B.J. through civil rights history beautifully echoed my beliefs on honoring those who suffered for our present freedoms.

The Cuts:
The tonal whiplash is insane; jumping from crude jokes to dark human trafficking gave me a massive headache. The middle part really dragged for me as the script dumped forced, preachy exposition instead of natural development. The comedy missed the mark, relying on Joe’s tired, grumpy shtick that ran out of gas fast.

Verdict:
A deeply uneven trip that can’t pick between raunchy comedy or heavy drama. Skippable unless you’re a die-hard Perry fan.

Favorite Line: “These aren’t just meaningless pictures.”

I love how not only was it funny as usual but Tyler Perry gave some serious moments to paint a picture and send a meaningful message. It honestly was powerful yet hilarious.

Honestly I had so much hype when it came to this move considering it was a uncle Joe film not a madea film but when I watched it I was so disappointed in the film I was really hoping this was a step in the new direction but it seemed he took a big step backward 5/10

i loved the relationship formed & this was a laugh through and through. i didnt think i was going to enjoy it this much but it was fantastic in teaching black history in unique ways tyler perry has mastered comedy
