Pathos and commentary are lost in Jeanne Dielman’s egregious running time, which has absolutely no business being 202 minutes long. If the aim of this movie was to create the most boring film in the whole cinematic history they succeeded.

Not every movie goer’s cup of tea, but nonetheless a groundbreaking feat in the use of long shot and a beautiful expose on the difficulties of womanhood

I honestly just found this to be boring. Well made and shot but boring.

a slow-burn masterpiece that has aged as well as it has due to its simplicity, effectiveness, and phenomenal craft. i was completely drawn in by this woman’s life and was never disinterested, only intrigued as to where the narrative would go. perfect lead; one of a kind

Hmm. I watched it because it was regarded so highly. I can see the artistic vision pretty clearly and there is a very noticeable lack of concern for doing anything that might hold an audience. I probably won’t ever watch it again. Not sure what to make of it. Art?

as a film student, there are some fun films i am introduced to i would’ve never have found otherwise, and then sometimes… there’s films you wish you didn’t spend three and a half hours watching for class. just watching a woman doing chores for the whole movie 🤷‍♀️
