Jane Eyre
4/5 ⭐️
I have never read the novel, but I really enjoyed this film adaptation. I also know that there are other more recent adaptations of this story. Orson Welles and Joan Fontaine have great chemistry on screen, even though the story portrays a somewhat toxic version of “love.” However, it is understandable that Jane struggles with affection and emotional connection because she grew up as an orphan without receiving much love.
The film presents a narrative full of mystery and intrigue, with details that you don’t always see coming and could be considered plot twists. The sequences have a dark atmosphere, but it makes sense because director Robert Stevenson wanted to create a cold and melancholic environment that reflected Mr. Rochester’s personality and Jane’s own experiences after suffering mistreatment at the orphanage.
Overall, the film’s atmosphere, performances, and mysterious tone make it a memorable adaptation of this classic story.

Jane Eyre
Maybe the best offering of the many versions of Jane Eyre. Welles, how’s without saying, is captivating and Fontaine glows. Pass on the rest, this is the best.

Jane Eyre
One of my favorite renditions of Jane eyre. You can find about 9 different versions of this movie starting in the 1920’s, but this one is top 3 for sure. It’s just a classic film to go along with a literary classic.
