Not bad — hot Englishman, hot Frenchman. Was a little disappointed with the lack of Jane Austen references. Liked that it was mostly in French. Almost gave the vibe of Notting Hill (bookstore), but not quite as urban-cozy or realistically serendipitous

Sweet and funny. Most of it is French subtitles.

I wouldn't say it's a horrible film, cause it wasn't. Still the film wasn't particularly good either.
The screenplay felt like it was written by a 12 year old teenager on Wattpad, who's first language isn't english and stopped writting mid story because they had some life changing event happening.
It felt uncomplete. It felt rushed.
If I read Jane Austen in the title I hope for more than just a woman visiting the Jane Austen Residency.
Also why did they make such a fuss about the protoganist having panic to sit in a car because her parents died? It was never picked up in the movie again. Was not necessary for the plot in any kind of way. It's kinda giving "shit the screenplay is way to short we need to give them more, maybe give the protaganist a tragic backstory but make it not important for the plot."
Also putting "Jane Austen" in a film title and then giving the protagonist the most basic heteronormative unfeminist love triangle situation ship ever.
In my memory Jane's story a big symbol for feminism, for strenght, for women speaking up.
Though this movie is in my opinion quite the opposite.

At least they trued with the cinematography. There were a lot of great scenes in which you can clearly tell they tried to make an effort.

It was a good pick before my French class started but other than that I didn’t enjoy the movie at all.
