What a snooze fest

Found 4 actors with absolutely no chemistry and put them in a car on an endless road

Every time I was fixing to get a good nap in it was ruined due to James screaming his head off because one of his “friends” gave up

Ending was buns too

i found myself wanting to get off of this road probably more than they did. i spent most of the movie waiting for something to happen and nothing really did. i understand that there’s symbolism behind why the movie is like this but it’s just not my type of movie

This is my kind of movie. It pissed me off so much I’ll remember it forever. Great actors, fresh faces, and nothing has to make sense. Nobody was guilty, nobody was right or wrong. Sometimes the road just ends, just like life. Some want answers, some accept, some fight, then understand too late.

8.0 - Another fantastic debut from a young horror director.

Its beauty is in its simplicity. The tone management is masterful as it slowly shifts from classic horror elements to overwhelming existential dread, & then slowly further into different forms of acceptance, & ultimately a bleak but, in a way, serene resolution.

Overall, it’s incredibly evocative of the, what I can only assume is nearly universal, feelings of loss & uncertainty that come with a major life transition, namely the move from college to “the real world.” You know that every day forward looks like it will be somewhat the same. Occasionally you’ll find new things to talk about or be interested in, you’ll likely lose friends along the way, & everyone around you will in some way mourn for the past before they were “on this road.” Like our characters, you can try & beat it or solve it, you can try & live with it and make the best of it, or you can just give in to it & let it beat you, but we all experience it. But what really makes it worth it, & the only way to really survive it, are embracing the small moments, & finding happiness in the connections & the people you are on the road with.

As a film, it was well shot & I clearly enjoyed the idea, though it could have (ironically?) maybe been a bit shorter or had a bit better of a pacing edit, since it felt longer than its 90 minute run time; though I’m not sure a true short-film could have expressed the atmosphere properly. Otherwise, the script wasn’t necessarily a strength, but each actor made the absolute most of their time and I could absolutely relate to each of their individual stories. All in all, I’m thoroughly impressed by this debut from Alexander Ullom and can’t wait to see what comes next.

Really enjoyed this movie. It wasn’t groundbreaking or anything but it was eerie. Crazy how it just randomly came to be and started out of nowhere. Characters were cool. Ending was funny. Loved the optimism. 7/10

I don’t get it

Ullom’s restraint and excellent pacing make this film a tight existential thriller. The cast is great and has believable chemistry as a friend group. Excited to see more from him. 7/10

really fucking solid. they did amazing for an 80k budget. the actors, especially Phineas Yoon, were so good. the character work was phenomenal. Fish and Day are snakes for that shit they pulled

Can we stop hyping up movies like this? I mean, a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes is absurd. It just goes to show that the critics are not a good representation of the average viewer because the audience score is 50%.

Original idea and well executed, it’s fun and unsettling. The acting was quite good and the cinematography was fun. But it could have been more!

What the heck is that

Well, that was depressing.

Kinda weird, kinda funny. Definitely not scary, but it is more interesting once you get past the halfway mark.

I wish there was a little more towards the actual characters, for a movie that spends all its time with the main 4 characters, we sure learn fuck all about them. Tyler just kinda gave up seemingly almost out of nowhere after putting this persona on, and we get some slight lore about him and his past relationship at the very start and that’s it.

I really like the idea of giving up and how the slight bit we know about these characters reflects how far along they go and shows us who gives up and not. I was just looking for some sort of reward at the end for the one that didn’t, he did all that for no reason and we still never actually figure out what’s going on.

I also feel like there was so much more they could’ve done with this concept, I can’t help but feel they rush passed some important/interesting parts that come with an infinite loop type situation, and instead we get so much water space of driving and characters either not talking or chatting about random crap.

Despite this, I like seeing how the characters eventually end up, I like watching the mental state of these characters change, and despite this movie being the same shot over and over again, I never really felt bored.
