Interview with the Vampire

gay ppl are so dramatic

the show > the movie but this was surprisingly better than i anticipated. tom cruise & kirsten dunst devoured. brad pitt nibbled a bit but mostly he just served face - it felt like he didn’t wanna lean into the homoeroticism too too much 😔

also the costumes…*chef’s kiss* !!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed it not as much as the show

4.5/5 - ‘Put me in my coffin, Louis, Louis.’

I love love love vampire media and this is no exception. I will forever adore the gothic angst and yearning of it all; the despair of being trapped in immortality without all the answers. Being unable to fix the mistakes of your past whilst struggling to keep hold of your humanity. I will devour it up every single time (no pun intended).

Sure there may be some crazy overdramatic smouldering happening from Brad Pitt the whole movie, but I do believe he captured the mournful essence and regret of (book) Louis perfectly. Whilst Tom Cruise isn’t my personal favourite iteration of Lestat, he does portray the role very well throughout; the overconfidence and zealousness works very well for him. And of course I will forever believe Kirsten Dunst is just simply incredible in everything she is in. She makes it so easy to believe that she is an adult woman trapped in the body of a child, never able to grow up and be accepted as an equal to Louis or Lestat. She bodied the character entirely, and I only wish we had more screen time with her, as Claudia is one of my favourite ever characters in media.

Overall whilst it may not be my favourite adaptation of interview with the vampire (the show will forever be superior) it does well to follow its source material, and I still deeply appreciate all that it is
