This was such a fun horror movie. I don’t really know why some people are hating on it.

It breaks the cliche of the kid being the only one able to see the monster/entity in the first 10 minutes of the movie, and in doing so it dials the tension right up from the outset. I genuinely can’t remember the last time I was so invested that quickly into a horror movie in a long time.

I will say the problem with doing that so early on, is it then becomes hard to maintain that level of intensity throughout, and I think that ultimately made for a slightly weaker 3rd act. But overall there’s just so many good things going for this that it didn’t really matter.

The main cast are all incredible in their respective roles; mommy, daddy, daughter and especially other mommy too. The VFX are terrifying in the best of ways. I actually just had a really enjoyable time watching this.

I get what the directors were trying to do with the underlying meaning of this movie but it was just executed so stupidly that it throws me off 😭 Why did the family think shit was light after every traumatic event and why did they not gaf at all about the unc 💔

I know it’s getting bad reviews but I personally liked this. There’s a few truly eerie scenes. I liked the other mommy was not this evil creepy monster. She had more personality than that. Sure, some of the narrative is weak and not perfect but did it need to be? It’s a horror movie that scared me, and for that I liked it.

not scary. just bad. It had potential but none of the jump scares were good. it had like 30 times it should’ve ended and the lighting was trash. Every time something new came on I genuinely laughed because what in the world was going on.

I was actually pretty shocked at how bad this was. I was stoked for this based off the first trailer, and it just wasn’t scary in my opinion. Now obviously, reviews are subjective and some are liking this movie, I just genuinely don’t see the appeal.

Throughout the movie I got scared maybe twice, and thought there were 1-2 other good moments, but besides that, I was counting down how much time was left. Very cool concept, just bad execution. It’s not TERRIBLE, but if the point of a horror movie is to scare you, this one failed for me.

There were many great things about this film. The first half of the film had so much potential and fell short as the film progressed.

While the writing could definitely use some improvement, I actually thought Other Mommy was pretty good. It got me once or twice, and I appreciated that the entity wasn’t afraid to show itself early on. I also liked that the parents became aware of what was happening relatively early in the film, rather than having them remain oblivious until the final confrontation. It was refreshing to see the family actually respond to the threat instead of spending the entire movie questioning whether something was wrong. The film also had some genuinely unsettling moments, particularly when it leaned into the body horror and the entity’s increasingly disturbing movements and appearances.

Jessica Chastain really commits to the role, and I honestly don’t think the movie would’ve been nearly as effective without her performance. She does a great job portraying both sides of her character, and her physical performance as the entity adds a lot to the horror.

That being said, the writing definitely needed some work. I can appreciate what they were trying to do with the twist, but I don’t think there was enough buildup to make it work. Throughout the movie, you’re led to expect a reveal about something that has been clearly haunting this family for a while, only for the story to go in a different direction. The reveal itself isn’t necessarily illogical, but it feels underdeveloped because there isn’t enough groundwork laid for it beforehand. I wanted the movie to explore its ideas more thoroughly instead of introducing something significant without giving it the proper buildup.

There were also some corny lines that took me out of the experience a little, but I did appreciate the more creative horror sequences. The balloons on the ceiling and the ballpit scene were particularly memorable, and I liked how the film used strange imagery and the entity’s unnatural movements to create discomfort.

Overall, there’s definitely room for improvement, especially with the writing and the execution of the twist, but I still enjoyed it. It had some effective scares, genuinely unsettling imagery, and a strong performance from Jessica Chastain. I had a good time with it, even if I wish the story had been better developed.

the demon was pretty fkn cool and the movies acted well, but the third act falls fairly flat, and it could use some more kills to heighten the feeling of desperation, not all bad tho

I actually wasn’t planning on watching this since I already thought it was gonna suck. But I did go to the cinema with my friends cause I wanted to watch something scary. but this was not that scary at all. It was pretty dumb and kind of all over the place. Nothing special. 🙃

good concept, poor execution. where did other mommy come from? Never explain the background she just popped up and the little girl was already friends with her. Also, that little girl is annoying. Listen to your parents, trying to kill everyone she don’t care.

A pretty enjoyable brain-off movie but nothing to write home about. The acting is good all around and I really like how the entity works and the forms it takes. The plot is kinda bad and many character actions are stupid/wacky. Definitely had great potential.

literally one of the weirdest movies i've ever seen. What was the main message of the movie? Don't have sex ever? Don't have kids cause they do weird stuff?
