In the Grey
Rated: 6.1/10 ⭐️
Wanted to see if Ritchie, Cavill, and Gyllenhaal could deliver a fun action ride. Expected a wild shootout, but it felt more like a flashy planning session with zero danger.
What Worked:
• Cavill and Gyllenhaal’s chemistry is super fun. Their rapid-fire banter totally carried the movie for me.
• Ritchie’s kinetic editing and slick fashion give it that glossy vibe I usually love.
• The practical action in the final act is really well-executed.
The Friction:
• The first two acts really dragged for me, relying way too heavily on heavy exposition and voiceovers.
• The characters feel pretty vapid. I never felt they were in actual peril, so the stakes were basically zero.
• The plot gets pretty generic. It’s definitely a case of style over substance for me.
The Verdict:
Turn your brain off and enjoy the film. Skip if you need actual depth or high stakes.

In the Grey
From the first few minutes, In the Grey announces itself as unmistakably Guy Ritchie. The dirty, hyper stylized energy is all over it, carrying that familiar swagger that makes his films instantly recognizable. Whether that works for every viewer is another matter, but if you’re already on Ritchie’s wavelength, the tone settles in quickly.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Henry Cavill make for a solid pairing, even if Cavill is ultimately the more compelling presence here. Gyllenhaal brings his usual intensity, though his accent seems to drift noticeably throughout the film, which can be a little distracting. Cavill, by contrast, feels more locked into the movie’s rhythm and helps anchor some of its cooler moments.
The story may not be the main draw, but the film delivers where it counts: it’s a fun watch packed with action, attitude, and that slickly grimy Guy Ritchie flavor. It may not rank among his very best, but it has enough style and star power to make for an entertaining ride.

this shit was so buns. Ritchie just metaphor spammed and it was so redundant and annoying.
So many big names but nothing special. I have a lot of bad things to say about it but i just don’t have the energy to type it all out

Lots of planning which was cool and it made the action really satisfying. there was some strange line delivery and dialogue but that’s all I remember disliking. overall this is a quick and fun one. not what I expected from my first Guy Richie movie other than Aladdin 2019 but i’m a lot more intrigued to see the rest of his filmography. really liked Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza Gonzáles. cavill was fine

The level of detailing and the intricacies of planning a covert mission shown here are second to none. Kept me engrossed the whole time and what to say about Jake and Henry’s charisma🤌🏻. A grounded, well thought out story

I could watch Cavill and Gyllenhaal banter all day. Visually, really satisfying both in terms of the set and action. Didn’t mind the exposition as it felt necessary for the angle they took with focusing on the preparation. Didn’t feel so high stakes, but no matter. 8.6/10 dice

With that plot, it should have been great. But for some reason it never took off/fell flat.
