I Saw the TV Glow

I see so many bad reviews and comments on this. If you like to be fed all the info, this is not your movie, if you think peak cinema is something similar to fast and furious, this is not your movie. You interpret the movie yourself and that’s the beauty, for me it meant time.

9.9 - Every so often a movie comes along that speaks to me on a different level, almost feeling as if it changes me as a person. This might be (IS) one of those movies. The themes of isolation, identity, anxiety are all so strong. Nostalgic, existential, horrifying, & beautiful.

Slow, boring, and confusing. Cast was good, story deff has potential but it was just bad. 2/10

if you say this movie is bad, do have never struggled mentally or you do not know a trans person. i watch so many disturbing and uncomfortable films but this took the cake. beyond how beautiful it is, this movie doesn’t tell A story, it can tell YOUR story. 10/10

That other review was grasping for anything to try and make the dislikes this movies getting seem like the viewers fault for not “getting it” or being “spoonfed”

In reality this movie is insanely on the nose and anyone can easily see the message its portraying, but that doesn’t make up for how awful the movie is

A majority of this movie, I shit you not, is just two goobers talking like its a dark Napoleon Dynamite while corny symbolism happens around them and without the real life message its sending the actual story becomes dumb as all hell more than anything else

The palette is great and they did a good job on capturing the look and energy of 90’s shows but my praise ends there

Just like the other movie that falls into the trilogy they’re making this was flat and boring

I haven’t stopped thinking about this movie since I watched it. The visuals of “The Pink Opaque” from when Owen was a teenager were straight nightmare fuel. The cinematography and sound was fantastic, although the ending left me with more questions than answers

a very weird, trippy, & uncomfortable film. although the dark aesthetic was very satisfying to watch. the cinematography is very unique, but it is disturbing at times. not the best A24 film at all, i couldn’t follow the storyline. the nostalgic feeling makes up for it tho. 6 / 10

A beautiful hazy nostalgic fever dream night terror… it’s quiet & slow start in the most dreadful part of childhood where everything still is so magical in a way before high school+ taints your innocence & life goes by in a blink of an eye. The film is more than this tho so i do

I Saw the TV Glow

A paranoid schizophrenic lesbian manipulates a below-average-intelligence black teenager. That’s it. That’s the movie. And Fred Durst of all people is in it. And her being a lesbian and him being black contributes nothing. Purely for “Diversity Credit” in the state of New Jersey.

This film struck something within me that took a little time to decipher and dive deeper to understand fully. When it ended, I felt so overwhelmed with emotions that I couldn’t explain immediately. I love the numerous amounts of different interpretations one could have with this

Do not be like me. Do not expect the movie from the trailer. Unfortunately so so bad. Really wanted to like it. Really gave it a good honest effort. Lots of good elements used so so poorly. If this movie resonated with you though, I’m really glad! Just didn’t do it for me, sadly

I Saw the TV Glow

A deeply unsettling cautionary tale on teens using forms of media as means of escape. This film hit me on a visceral level I can’t seem to shake!!! Smith & Lundy-Paine give tragic performances and the ambient score and vibrant cinematography juxtaposes the harrowing story.
