easily one of the most artistically beautifully shot film i’ve watched in a while.

the cinematography and camera work is absolute king in this film and i knew it since the initial teaser.
honestly it’s what really made me love this film.

the scenes in the football pitch had me going insane. that pov inside the helmet… bro. cinema. the “saviors” football kit with the red visor was fucking crispy as a cane’s fried chicken.

the use of thermal and xray was so fucking sick too.

the editing broo, wow. so so fucking good. easily one of my favorite edited films that i can remember. also sound design was spectacular. i could feel my ass shake in the IMAX theater.

everything was absolutely perfect besides the storytelling smh. 96 minutes of runtime felt like a short film to me. especially with how the story was told. i understood the message, just didn’t understand why it all became the purge at the end tbh.

that confused the fuck out of me.

was definitely expecting something way better ngl. but the cinematography sold me idgaf.

definitely will rewatch tho.

He is indeed HIM.

Imma be honest, I had to switch from loved to liked over night, there is something not working, a big part of it was the ending but there are other issues like pacing. It’s not bad but I think the overall hype I had for the movie tainted my judgement when I had to review it the first time. I needed this to be everything and it wasn’t, and that’s fine, it happens

Cinematography is real good with creative shots while keeping the balance with normal ones.

Story is good, I kinda knew what this was going to be and I was right, during the ending I wished it went in a different direction, but that’s just me.

MARLON WAYANS steals the show, every time he enters the screen you just feel anxious, right from the start, something about these comedic actors entering other genres, there’s just something to it.

Tyriq Withers was good too, I wish he did a bit more but him being so subtle kinda evens out the crazy Wayans brings. Although, sometimes being that subtle does come with a consequence, which is that to certain events, it doesn’t really seem realistic with that type of reaction.

Message is as clear as day, to what extent will someone go to become the best, and that’s not it, there’s much more hidden into it. I suggest reflecting on it, because if taken at surface level, it’s just not the same and not even close, so please, after watching, take a beat, reflect on the events and then just either enjoy it or snub it, no hate on your own opinion.

Other than those points, I was really satisfied with it, if you catch it in IMAX it’s better, don’t slop and wait for it to come out on streaming, cinema is making a come back, be part of it.

Lmk your opinions! I’m excited to know!!

I would need a voodoo ranger in the theater to get through this movie.

I mean it’s just a poorly put together movie.

I don’t get how you could watch this, walk out and say “wow, what an invigorating film.”

You’re wrong if you do a like. You’re fried if you did a love

Looks like a masterpiece, feels like a maze I never escaped. The visuals had me glued, but the story left me spiraling. I know how to pick apart a plot, but this one picked me apart instead. Beautiful confusion wrapped in cinematic glitter.

Absolutely, unbelievably, most definitely, TERRIBLE.

KIM. TIM. VIN. PIM. JIM. It's everyone but HIM. I love psychological thrillers, so I was looking forward to watching this. Then I saw it, and my interest dwindled completely by the 30-minute mark. It's not necessarily a bad movie…it's just very clichéd, shallow, and overly excessive. Great casting, overdramatic and obnoxious acting. Refreshing visuals, dragged-out and repetitive scenes. Important metaphors, surface-level and unoriginal portrayals. Head-spinning sound design, boring soundtrack. Overall, I see why some might like it, but I don't.

“Jordan Peele failed on this one”

Right, but he wasn’t the director or the writer. Nobody ever looks at a movie an executive producer was attached to and says something like, “Twisters is missing the Spielberg vibe.’” Critics are being a little too harsh fr fr

6.1 - This wasn’t great but I also didn’t find it nearly as bad as the general online discourse made it out to be. I just think too many people got fooled by the Jordan Peele producer tag.

There are some really cool sequences, some fun camera shots, some insane ideas, & just enough football. Granted, my expectations were higher. I hoped for a run back of “The Substance” for guys & sports fans, & this didn’t nearly reach those heights but I still enjoyed the world they tried to build here. Marlon Wayans is unhinged in the best way & Tyriq Withers brings just enough empathy to his role.

Message wise, it’s at times clumsy, but the surface ideas of what athletes might sacrifice, health concerns in sports especially CTE, concussions, & steroid use, & how toxic masculinity & toxic fandom intertwine to add immense and unfair pressure to athletes to be heroes or even gods, when they never should be is incredibly intriguing, & it is unfortunate we never got much past the surface with those topics. But what is most unfortunate is what started as a tense & aggressive world semi-grounded in reality, too quickly became absolutely absurd towards the climax.

It’s probably not worth the theater trip for most, but for fans of cult horror & the absurd, or massive football fans like myself, especially those way too online with NFL conspiracy, also like myself, there is fun to be had, & it may be worth an eventual stream.

this movie is really just tyriq withers aura farming for 90 minutes - the cinematography was so picturesque and vivid - stylistically brilliant with so many strong and bold thematic choices that play very well - very critical of the sports world and kinda felt like whiplash in that way - awesome performance from marlon wayans too

This is one of the most important movies about football ever made. If you’re a football fan, be warned, this movie will be hard to watch. The cinematography is incredible. It’s a visually stunning and exciting movie. Been listening. Bravo!

i mean it was a alright movie but it was just a bunch of nothing. i liked th acting and stuff but the ending was weird and this movie just wasn’t really what i was hoping for

303d

It wasn't bad, just bot my thing, like logically, if you saw all these people trying to kill you and your trainer not pushing you to your limits but trying to kill other people just to prove a point..,you dip outta there😂
The ending was great though, regardless the movie was good

As both a San Antonio native and a firm believer in the idea that american football as an entity is a cult, this movie was an absolute fucking delight

The lighting and cinematography in this movie is so stunning I will not stop thinking about it for weeks to come

So this movie is a bold, layered film with elite cinematography, sharp horror, & powerful metaphors on obsession, trauma, & devotion. Demanding but rewarding, with standout scenes (that decapitation!). Not for everyone, but smart & memorable. 7/ 10 worth a watch at least once.
