Hidden Figures

Reflective of 'Project Mercury' itself, 'Hidden Figures' launches loud with objectives, orbits tightly with awe-inspiring sequences, and descends impacting optimism and advocacy. Henson, Spencer, Monáe, Costner, and Dunsts gave it their all to make bold and memorable characters. From subtle microaggressions to full-on ignorance, the embodiment of inequality and empowerment was nowhere near shy of showing how silly bigots truly are. The third act feels repetitive/predictable, giving the runtime a prolonged feel. Fortunately, the camerawork, design, score, and dialogue kept me well-invested. Factual or not, the message is incredibly resonant to anyone, anywhere, at any time.

Hidden Figures

one of the best stories ever told, and it’s a true one. so, so beautiful. Costner, Monáe & Spencer each give incredibly powerful performances that truly captivate the trials and tribulations of the 60s, but Taraji P. Henson steals the show. undoubtedly robbed of an oscar. absolute must see. 10/10

Hidden Figures

i’m pretty much predestined to love any period piece, especially ones with themes of racial and gender equality, but this film is particularly inspiring. really drives home the idea that women of color have to fight for a fraction of the opportunities and resources white men are granted and even when we achieve at a higher level than our male counterparts, they often take the credit for “allowing” us a seat at the table, the same table they barred us from throughout all of history

"And I work like a dog, day and night, living off a coffee pot none of you want to touch!" Katherine Jonhson is such an inspiration to young girls to shatter racial and gender barriers in male dominated fields
