An absolutely beautiful movie. Kate, Winslet and Melanie Lynsey are superb. I saw this movie years ago when it came out and quite a few times since. I love it.

Surreal and ethereal tone to this. Highly stylised and expressive with very animated performances. Extremely tragic and bleak story about a horrifying true story. No wonder this was Peter Jackson’s breakthrough film
