Slow paced but it doesn’t get boring at any point. Costume design and sets are beautiful and immersive. Performances are fantastic throughout. Shot composition and framing elevate the excellent cinematography. The ending is very satisfying but it does take a while to get there

If I attempted to write a review for this magnum opus I would just end up having a linguistic breakdown. HOLY COWWWW!!!! Gotta give 10’s where 10’s are due.

This is the first classic samurai movie I've ever scene, and my god is this film amazing. The structure of this films leaves us wondering where the story is going, that is until the reveal before the final fight, that is so satisfying to watch. 9.5/10

I can see why people like this so much

Amazing film. Transfixing visuals and soundscape.  Extremely well-written with some truly beautiful prose. An unpredictable, spellbinding story with a compelling cerebral and moral battle at its heart.  Moments of great beauty and emotion.  Even a little bit of action.

The story unravels very stoically. Reveals the value of life and honor over classism. Glad it ramped up in the last 20 minutes.

Truly one of the all time greats. So culturally distinct, but the universal values are so intrinsic that it’s very distinctness adds to the thematic structure of the film

old isnt always gold

I'm not going to pretend that my mind was blown or that this became an instant favorite of mine just because of its high ratings. Enjoyment and the rewatch factor always come first for me. But I'm not dumb either I can see why it has the praise, because the story pulls you in and builds and builds with tension to an epic final sequence. Might be the best storytelling of the samurai of all time, as it tackles every aspect of the genre.

Near perfect. It was slow but it all came together wonderfully. Not the best story, but it was told perfectly. The cinematography was top of the line, the shot selection and setups were amazing.

The dialogue was great, the theme was great, the acting superb. Near 10/10

One of the best (anti-samurai) samurai movies, great story buildup to an enraged yet bittersweet climax.

Harakiri shouldn't be mocked nor taken lightly as it's a commitment to save a Samurai's soul, word and his unwavering honor.

That was amazing. A movie is great when you can’t move for the last act. 10/10
