Mom was dumb. Kid was dumb. Dad was pretty dumb too tbh. How y’all gonna keep getting into strangers cars like cmon now. Should’ve done what the dad did at the end and gotten a car for themselves to begin with. And TAKE THE WRISTBANDS OFF. Stupidity kept it interesting I guess. 🤷‍♀️

The family should have died with how stupid they were. Moral of the story if they hadn’t had the kid they would have been safe in the bunker that whole time

i liked it but ugh the whole family was stupid. why would they leave the bag w/ insulin in the care of a 7 year old. god the son irked me so much. he was getting kidnapped from his mom & he didn’t have the brains to unbuckle himself from the car seat & run away w her…?

Felt super long, and how did gerald butler pull this chick.

I've watched this movie probably around 6 times, and it never fails to entertain me. It i truly an incredible movie, but to be frank every movie and/or show Gerard Butler is always adequate and worthwhile. Really hoping the sequel comes through.

I expected a mindless CGI disaster flick, but got a grounded thriller about keeping your family together at the end of the world.

The Director’s Eye:
Waugh ditches the glossy playbook, keeping the camera tight. The gritty, handheld movement makes societal collapse feel terrifyingly real. Watching an everyday dad go to absolute extremes to protect his vulnerable son deeply resonated with my traditional, family-first values. Butler makes the stakes feel intimate. Buckley’s score uses ominous rumbles to make the impending doom feel suffocating.

The Cuts:
The middle part really dragged for me when the family gets separated into repetitive side-quests. Some CGI during the final strikes looked unfinished, pulling me out of the realism. It's a bummer the pandemic scrambled its release, but happy it profited enough for the Greenland 2 sequel that dropped earlier this year.

Verdict:
A stressful, grounded disaster flick putting family survival front and center. Solid watch.

Favorite Line: “I will see you there. I'm going to find you.”

I really appreciate that this film isn't full of the patriotic nonsense that most American disaster movies have. I did find myself yelling at the TV a few times in frustration because they were being so stupid!

A grounded story of pure survival amidst the end of society. A few too many things go awry but then are solved too quickly. Overall it’s a decent disaster film blockbuster.

This randomly came on after I had finished watching a different movie and I got sucked in. It definitely has that 2012 feel to it, but with more focus on the family aspect. Overall a solid disaster movie that thrives on the tension created by man’s inhumanity to man.

Gerard Butler & Morena Baccarin are always at their best!!

die szenen mit den einschlägen waren sehr ausschlag gebend und eindrucksvoll. auch wenn sie nich oft waren haben sie dadurch ein großen teil gespielt wie es in so einer art film auch sein sollte. die musik war spannend und großartig gewählt

It’s good to know that the worst place I could have moved to is near Tampa, Florida. Too late now.

It was a very time consuming movie , it could have been finished in 1 hour if they wanted it to. Characters were a bit weird in my opinion. The plot was good effects were fine but execution just wasn’t there.

Really interesting story and similar to 2012 but a lot simpler - I liked the plot and I thought it was paced very well - I thought the mom was really dumb and so was the kid but I guess they had to be for the movie to happen - overall solid end of world movie

What exactly do people want with a natural disaster film? There are so many bad reviews for this for no reason because I thought the intensity and the realism to how humanity would react to a natural disaster like this was spot on. One of the more realistic ones. 9.4/10!!!
