Good Time

I know this movie kind of gets a lot of hate but I don’t know why. It’s a messed up story obviously but a very engaging one none the less. I find Robert Pattinson’s character tragic and compelling for all the wrong reasons. This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Good times are not in fact had. Great movie and great acting by Robert Pattinson!

Similar to it’s Safdie brother counterpart Uncut Gems in pace, I found Good Time to be more digestible. A champion brother, emotionally portrayed by Pattinson, tries to do what’s best for his bro while doing all the wrong things along the way. A modern Lennie and George OM&M stry

Watching this confirmed my suspicions of Josh Safdie being the talented brother, at least director-wise. The whole vibe and structure feels pleasantly familiar to Marty Supreme and Uncut Gems.

It’s equally as stressful as both of those films - in an exciting way of course. It’s all just very watchable and mostly unpredictable with its approach to the crazy situations you witness unfold. Was a big fan of the structure it took, the whole film flowed really well and remained very engaging. The score was also fantastic, adding to that chaotic vibe in all the best ways.

Very small cast of characters, but everyone was fantastic. Probably one of the most important roles of Pattinson’s career, highlighting his range as a performer - leading to many more interesting roles since. Benny Safdie was really good too, I feel like it would be easy to unintentionally border being offensive playing a character with a disability like that - but he did it very well and honestly.

Had a great time with this one, really encapsulates you into this world and its dramas. Another fantastic performance from Pattinson. Lot to like here.

Good Time is a frantic ride, but at the core of the film is the brothers' relationship. Both are desperate to get out of New York and start a new life, even if they have to borrow and steal to achieve it.
