This movie rules. Finally a Godzilla movie with human characters that are just as compelling as the giant lizard monster. Awesome VFX and music also. This was the first time I was actually afraid of Godzilla. Awesome Atomic Breathe in this version but not as cool as Shin Godzilla

what a COLD ass movie. the first godzilla movie i’ve seen with an amazing story and compelling characters. Not to mention the cgi work was on a level of its own. Sleeper movie out of nowhere to finish off the year

Harsh of me, but the story(for me personally) was to cliche and predictable. Maybe the other reviewers are seeing something I don’t.

8.4 - It’s nice to see such a grounded & human approach to a monster story. Godzilla’s design was classic. The action was decent if a little underutilized. The acting was solid. The score & sound design was impeccable. But it was predictable & not all the emotion hit for me.

For a $15 million budget, this is insane. For most of the movie, the vfx/sfx is beautiful, but I can't get over the Godzilla eyes. They break the whole character. The score wasn't nessarily tense, more so military. The drama and acting, especially by Ryunosuke, was very unexpected. It carved itself first, making it almost more important than godzilla, unlike in the Warner Bros versions. Honestly, I'm impressed by the passion and improvements Yamazaki and his team put in. Lost me in afew parts, and underwhelmed me in others, but I can't wait for what they do next.

Best trip to the theater of the year for me. I mean emotion in a Godzilla film?? An absolutely fun experience with beautiful visuals and a great storyline. Was not expecting to be so drawn to each character and the story itself. Highly recommend

9.1/10 A Godzilla movie where I care about the humans. Retelling the classic story but having it feel so unique was amazing. Acting, writing, VFX were phenomenal. When Godzilla is on screen it’s a treat. Easily the best monster movie I’ve ever seen recommend as much as I can

holy shit the details on king zilla is surreal. i was fucking terrified, i love foreign films especially bc there is so much talent all around the world. this is definitely the best representation of godzilla hands down. his laser beam is so fucking deadly. the cinematography is pretty good, story is solid. akiko is so adorable omg aaaahh. the acting is pretty good but a little over dramatic in some scenes ngl. although the ending hits like a truck, definitely not as good of acting as parasite. the vfx takes the crown on this one, and it’s proof of why they won the oscar for best vfx this year. 9 / 10

Plain characters, goofy Godzilla and no real consequences for the protagonists…

Jaws + Grave of the Fireflies. I’ve only seen this in black & white and I surprisingly adored every one of the human characters.

Monster movies aren’t really my thing but this was great. Felt reminiscent of the original while having its own bold story
