Little happens - save for several family arguments and the artist worrying about money and the integrity of his ambition - yet it is unforgettable, and, shot to look like a moving Vermeer painting, effortlessly profound.

Efsane tablonun hikayesinin gayet iyi bir sinema uyarlaması,Scarlett Johansson un güzelliği ile Hollywoodu kasıp kavurduğu yıllar:)

He ultimately cared more for the painting than for her. It had some really pretty scenes, the moment where they did the Pearl painting was beautiful. However it felt anxiety filled. I don’t know if it’s young scarlets acting but it felt like a thriller at times. 5.5/10 🪿

I’ve liked it but what a sad story… fair enough cause at that time I think there were many many sad stories

It was fine. We all know the book was better, but it’s been a decade since I read it so it was nice to hop back into 17th century Dutch life. Might dust off the book and reread it…

Certainly not for everyone, but true cinefiles will fine a lot to like about this one. Cinematography, slow-burn script, directing that let’s the faces tell the story more than words. A legitimately beautiful movie about a beautiful piece of art history.

Boring but interesting. This is my favorite art piece. Always has been. Would I suggest to someone this movie ? No, unless they are driven by motivation lol and curiosity

A well made film that is perfectly fine in most ways, but always feels more creepy than romantic, and never justifies its existence. 5.5/10
