Ghostbusters: Afterlife
A very nostalgic recapture of the original while adding a personal flair. Grace killed is as Phoebe and Rudd brought a great amount of charisma. Writing is sometimes cringy but doesn’t suffer from the shortcomings. Fun visual effects and great character writing. 4/5

I really only watched because my sister LOVES Finn, but really enjoyed and wish I was a die hard ghostbusters fan from the beginning because I feel like I would have loved the lore even more.

Watched this on a plane. Great plane movie. Mediocre when watched at 0 altitude
Some solid nostalgia throughout for millennials + genx who grew up with ghostbusters

Curious to see if passing the proton pack to a new generation worked. Expected a basic nostalgia trip, but the genuine heart honestly surprised me.
What Worked:
• Mckenna Grace anchors it for me. Her dry humor and connection to the legacy felt super authentic.
• The dusty Oklahoma farm gave it a really fresh, grounded vibe compared to the city.
• The classic, tactile creature designs totally beat super smooth modern CGI for me.
The Friction:
• The first half was a bit slow for me. It took way too long to get to the ghostbusting gear.
• The fan service got heavy-handed near the end, overshadowing the new characters to me.
• Callie’s storyline felt sidelined. I honestly wanted a bit more depth regarding her feelings about her estranged dad.
Verdict:
Watch for a heartfelt adventure. Skip if you want pure 80s comedy.
