Took forever for anything to happen. Also, violence was a bit for the sake of it rather than being a dramatic device.

A cool look at what New York gangs may have been like in the 1800’s.

Solid Scorsese movie. Slow start but strong ending. The butcher is some of the best acting ever.

Gangs of New York

hated the beginning sequence, thought it was almost comical and silly. The movie picked up a lot when Daniel Day Lewis (Bill the butcher) discovered Leo (Amsterdam) was the son of Liam Neeson’s character from the beginning and was seeking revenge. Then it became a very good movie. Daniel day lewis was very good and Leo was good. The ending was ok, got a little crazy like the beginning again. But enjoyed the very end where it transitioned to modern NY

Martin Scorsese strikes again! Such an amazing and developed story, incredible performances and stunning realism. I’ll always love a good bit of violence 😜
