I once came across a video featuring an air crash investigator discussing aviation accidents and he mentioned that while the movie’s storyline was compelling, a pilot as intoxicated as Denzel Washington’s character would never actually make it to the cockpit. Modern aviation systems are designed to catch substance abuse early..he literally said “the best place to enjoy that kind of storyline is at the movies”😂.Which was reassuring to hear.

Denzel Washington delivered a good performance, as expected. On the subject of addiction, my heart goes out to those struggling with it. It’s easy to portray addicts as villains, but they are people battling deep personal struggles. However if you’re looking for something that fully dissects the reality of addiction, I feel like this film just scratched the surface. If addiction was meant to be the film’s main focus, I feel they could have explored more of its impact—not just on the addict, but on those around them and the strain it puts on almost every given relationship.

That said, while not perfect the storyline was engaging, and overall, Flight was an entertaining watch. Would definitely recommend it:)

I went into this movie pretty blind, not knowing that it was about addiction. Denzel Washington’s performance was great. Tbh didn’t care a ton about his ex-junkie love interest. I wish it focused more on the strained relationship between him and his son. As well as his addiction.
