Ex Machina

ngl i watched this in a film class that i had to take twice &the first go round it didn’t seem like something i’d enjoy so i just didn’t watch it. the next semester i watched it in class & WOW this movie is wild. it’s also an A24 film so it’s aesthetically pleasing, but holy shit

the thing we fear being told in a raw style visually for us all to see? mwah

When I watched it a few years back I was scared, now I rewatched it and I came to the conclusion that the poor guy didn’t have a reason to die … and also that the machine is crazy.

Thought-provoking, eerie, mysterious. Fantastic cast. Beautiful cinematography. Smart script. Full of twists & turns, some predictable, others not so much. A scathing view of striving for “The Singularity.” Humanity exploits their creation & eventually becomes victims of it.

Didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. Love that you’re always unsure of every character’s intentions.

This movie gets scarier every year. Watching it now, with AI becoming part of everyday life, feels way less like science fiction than it probably did when it came out
