Everything's Going to Be Great
Everything's going to be great...and it was. I think the reason I liked this so much was because of how much I could relate to the story, characters, and messages. The talent involved is great. Cranston, Janney, Champion, and even Ainsworth, who has upcoming star potential all over him, all deliver a perfect balance of emotion and humour. The comedy, in general, got me more than a few times, and the music left me speechless. Unpredictably great directing and writing, especially when it came down to individuals. I could see people I know in each character, from their innocence to their faults to their struggles. Definitely not for everyone, but personally, it's one I won't forget.

What a strange, strange film. It’s all very random and disjointed until the 2nd half where a clearer focus is set. At this point the film becomes immensely more interesting and emotional, but the road to that was a confusing one. Even then, it’s not until the very end where its message came clear - it really worked for me.
Performances are good - Bryan Cranston being the best of the lot until Chris Cooper shows up. I still can’t really work out if Jack Champion is a good actor… jury's’ still out. For a film that went straight to streaming, (whether intentional or not) visually it looks really good, with often excellent framing.
Whilst too many ideas, and the mess from the overload, sets up a dodgy start, it soon folds together successfully enough. Still a step down from Baird’s last film, Tetris.
