Escape from New York
It was alright, the fighting was kinda bleh but they did have a cool little fighting ring scene, cool concept but just lacked something
Also I think this might be the first time i’ve watched something else Chef from South Park was in so that was a cool little thing to catch

I didn’t have much of an idea what this was about going in, but I was immediately hooked by the fantastic premise and setup. Unfortunately, the film quickly pivots toward a silly tone and a whole bunch of bad performances that completely lost me.
Carpenter’s score is the clear highlight along with the production design - this version of Manhattan feels genuinely lived-in and grimy. His directing, however, didn’t quite get there for me. Tonally, it felt like Beyond Thunderdome compared to the first two Mad Max films; it starts very serious before devolving into a live-action cartoon. It was a shift I just couldn’t get on board with.
Kurt Russell and Lee Van Cleef were the only ones who could actually act here; everyone else felt ridiculous, playing far too hard into the film's weird vibe. I respect the massive influence this has had - especially in the video game world - but it just didn't do anything impactful for me.

The idea was cool but I felt it to be very one dimensional.
