Burton’s usual dark tone is subdued but the creativity and imagination remain, finding messages in various segments of the story everyone can relate to.

Way way better than the original. There's more characters to love and hate (by design). Everything is bigger and better. Overall, it's a way more filled out story with a lovely ending.
