Essentially Jaws on the highway, with Spielberg expertly building tension from start to finish. The relentless cat-and-mouse chase between man and truck is thrilling, though the characters lack depth. Despite this, the suspense and pacing keep it gripping.

A lot of great camera work for Spielberg's film debut shows what he's capable of. It's also very cool that I recognize pretty much all the filming locations. While I do think it's good and thrilling, it's only for so long. Dragged on too long, and this guy was bland to follow.

Well, we've had a pretty fucking mid start to the month. That's three 3★ movies in a row now. The movie was okay, nothing incredible.

Everything aside, this “David Mann” is perhaps the worst driver of all time, brother was swerving and crashing every which way..!

For a feature debut, one that was initially a TV film, Duel is surprisingly effective as a cat & mouse thriller. Very suspenseful throughout, one moment actually shit me up a bit, tension is built with incredible effect and action is captured in a dynamic way, particularly for the budget and age restrictions.

Really liked Dennis Weaver here, playing a super normal guy who’s a bit of a loser in honesty, soooo - your typical salesman.

Had a really good time with this, was kinda hoping for some explanation, although using your imagination to fill in the gap becomes a pretty effective tool.

Spielberg’s first feature - he riffs on Hitchcock - and it’s superb. 4/5

Loved it back in the day 6.5/10. A bit dated now 🫤

You can tell it's Spielberg's first film. The story got repetitive after the 100th near identical narrow escape. But there are some great sequences early on and at the end.

I was stunned to learn this was a tv-movie. Stunning film.

Not my favorite by Spielberg but it’s a good debut and a fun time for sure. It does drag at a few points but overall it’s pretty good.

Spielberg debut has a lot of interesting suspense, shot choices, and editing, with a pretty good story to go with that shows glimpses of the future
