Dolittle

This is a pretty good movie I’m not really sure why it’s so disliked and has not very good reviews it has a good plot and the characters are easy to connect with I think this movie is pretty good and I don’t think it deserves all the hate

6/10 enjoyed the 2nd time around. The animals were believable and well voiced. Downey, as ever, on great form (although would have proffered his “Sherlock” ancient). Recommend

I hoped for a wholesome family adventure, but this is a baffling, chaotic big-budget mess that completely loses its footing.

The Director’s Eye:
The lavish Victorian production design looks great. I also appreciate the wholesome message of overcoming grief to help others. However, RDJ's performance is downright bizarre, mumbling through a weird Welsh accent. Sweet moments of loyalty get buried under celebrity voice cameos. Elfman's whimsical score frequently gets drowned out by chaotic CGI animals shouting over each other.

The Cuts:
The humor is incredibly lazy. Despite the 1800s setting, the animals rely heavily on cheap bathroom humor and modern pop-culture references. A "medical" scene with a dragon is completely low-brow and distasteful. The disjointed pacing jumps erratically, a clear result of troubled production and massive reshoots.

Verdict:
A CGI-bloated mess wasting a massive budget on cheap gags. Skip it and stick to the Eddie Murphy version.

Favorite Line: "It's only by helping others that we can truly help ourselves."

Dolittle is a light, family-friendly adventure with colorful visuals and a playful vibe. Robert Downey Jr. brings charm, but the story feels a bit messy and not very memorable. Fun for kids, kinda forgettable for adults.

Robert Downey Jr. blink twice if you need help. i just watched this and retained nothing except the fact that bro communicates with animals.
